Final Exam 2011

Final

 I chose this famous picture of the Sistine chapel because it was the first thing I thought about when i thought art. I Brainstormed a few ideas and also found the leaning tower of Pisa. I thought of different ways to  place my design into the picture, and i ended up using a sumdging tutorial to blend the clouds to parts of the picture.

 I started by separating the head from the body of my subject. Afterward i shrunk the body and fitted the head onto the body. I took the body and placed it in a different scenario than the original.

 Description of Process: When i first started my second poster i wasn't attempting the art deco style. While i was exploring a tutorial i found I used the posterize option on one of the first pictures i had. I used more picture of Japanese scenery then added a border, for the font i went online and downloaded one that was popular among art deco posters.

Motivational Poster

GO GREEN Motivational 

 I took a picture of the planet earth an went from there by adding a clipping mask of the recycle logo. I wanted the color green to be part of the message as well as the moral of the motivational poster. Multiple layers and gradients  and i ended up with the main part of the poster.

The tutorial  I followed  was for the glowing letters which I followed until i certain point and then I took my own perspective on it.

Logo Designs

Initial logo

Description: For each logo I used color to make individual letters or symbols pop out. for the first logo i made the B appear as if it were linked into the second B. I used a dark blue color to make the logo visually satisfying.

The second logo in my upload is the full name logo  I kept it simple by once again using colors that would stand out, drawing attention to the logo.  I  picked the "A" in both names because it was the only letter that appears twice besides the B.

Finally the third logo I did I chose a symbol I created earlier in the year during the spaceship project back in photo shop. I subtracted the shape of a star from the original star and just added a circle into the middle. I did it because I had a feeling it would be a creative and original though to add to the logo.

Project Description: this project took us through more techniques possible using Illustrator. We did four figure ground reversals, four Ligature names, four text stacks, and four symbol/letter replacements.

Self reflection: on this project i think i did better than usual. I didnt hit any obstacles only a few challenging aspects that were fun in the end. i would give myself a total 9/9

 This tutorial took us through some other important tools in Illustrator. Most tools used included color in some way. The gradient circle shows may shades of brown leading to the black center. Another part of this tutorial taught  us about layers. I put the bubbles I made and the green star on a separate layer allowing me to add  a visual effect.

Following the tutorial proved challenging. I had a hard time with a lot of things, one being time, another being a difficulty understanding the tutorial. Time really brought down my ability to fix some things on the ship itself.

This project taught me the skills I listed above. I am starting to understand how to put different things together to make a larger picture or idea. I tried to make my spaceship a little unique by being creative, but still using the guidelines of the tutorial. I would grade myself a  8/8.

Self Reflection
From this project i learned a lot, but above all over the course of this project I gained a good idea of how to use the pen tool. i discovered tracing was a good way of getting a drawing of something onto the page. I also got a good grip on the pencil tool when I drew the hands. i would grade myself 9/9. On this project because there are still somethings I can improve.

Okay so, we lost... three fumbles and a pick kinda buried any chance of winning alive. 3-1-2  Only  three more weeks until the end of football. Then I can actually go home at 2:30 for once.

Alright so its October now  its already been a month in to school. This project is cool, its actually pretty fun.  still grabbing pictures for my name.  listening to my Ipod, getting pumped, we have a game on Saturday.
